CONTEMPLATIVE LIFE LIVED IN ACTION
Our monastic charism, derived from the rule of St. Benedict as well as the contemplative spirit of St. Teresa of Avila, centers on three major principles:
- a contemplative ministry of presence rooted in our own Christian contemplative prayer;
- monastic hospitality; and
- an apostolic witness to persons and communities who feel alienated from or outside the usual service commitment or outreach of the Church.
- practice contemplative spirituality through prayer, meditation, and service to others;
- encourage contemplative spirituality by conducting retreats, recollection days, and seminars which are open to individuals of diverse faiths; and
- promote education regarding religious and social issues.
